HONG KONG–Global sales at TTI Floor Care, the parent company of the Hoover and Dirt Devil vacuum brands, rose 6.8 percent in the first half of 2008.
According to a statement by the company’s parent, Techtronic Industries Co., the sales growth in the floor-care unit resulted from the turnaround of the Hoover brand and growth throughout the world. The turnaround helped boost Techtronic Industries’ earnings before restructuring and transition costs by 7.1 percent.
“The Hoover turnaround to profitability in the first half was a significant achievement,” said Joseph Galli Jr., TTI’s chief executive officer.
Overall sales for Techtronic Industries rose 10.1 percent in the first half, to $1.7 billion. Galli credited the increase to “our focus on brand-value creation, speed to market and innovative product development.”
