MIDDLETON, Wis.-Douglas L. Martin will join Spectrum Brands Holdings as executive vice president and chief financial officer on Sept. 1.
Martin will succeed Tony Genito, who announced in April that he would leave Spectrum Brands by the end of this year to return with his family to the Southeast. Martin comes to the company, the parent of the Remington brand of personal-care products and of the Russell Hobbs line of small electrics, from Newell Rubbermaid. He had served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of the latter company since 2012.
In all, Martin served for 27 years at Newell Rubbermaid. Prior to his most recent post, he was deputy chief financial officer, vice president of finance for the consumer group, vice president of finance for the office products group, vice president and treasurer, and vice president of tax.
When he assumes his new role, Martin will report to Dave Lumley, Spectrum Brands’ president and CEO. Lumley said, “Doug shares our operating philosophy and culture, including the Spectrum Value Model and pay for performance, and understands the importance of cost improvement and shared services. He has a deep consumer-products industry knowledge, including experience with many of the same retail customers and channels.”
