Shark Number One in J.D. Power Vac Study

SharkWESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.-Euro-Pro’s Shark brand ranked highest in customer satisfaction in canister and upright vacuums in J.D. Power’s 2014 Vacuum Satisfaction Study.

Now in its third year, the study measures satisfaction with upright and canister vacuums based on six criteria: performance, ease of use, features, styling and appearance, price and warranty. The brands are awarded points from these criteria, and Shark scored 819 for the upright segment and 799 in the canister category. Other brands that ranked highly were Dyson (upright 815, canister 795) and Miele, which scored 782 in canisters but was not ranked in the upright segment.

According to other findings from the study, performance and ease of use were of more importance for upright customers as the strongest drivers of overall satisfaction. Also, in-store displays and online reviews have increased their importance in creating brand consideration.

J.D. Power’s Christina Cooley, director of home improvement industries, said, “There are clear competitive differentiators among vacuum brands and, as customers rely more on in-store product displays and online ratings in shopping for a vacuum, it is critical that manufacturers align their brand and product messaging to include the value they are delivering.”
