NEW YORK-Keurig, the single-serve coffee brand of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR), has introduced the Rivo Cappuccino and Latte System in partnership with Luigi Lavazza, the coffee brand.
The two companies unveiled the new brewer at an event at the Morgan Library here on Jan. 28. It brews espresso and is designed with a milk frother for preparing cappuccinos and lattes, and is Keurig’s first brewer dedicated to espresso beverages.
Design features include two espresso sizes, short and “lungo”; three frothing modes; a removable 60-ounce water reservoir; and a dishwasher safe frothing pitcher. The brewer operates with five buttons—one for espresso, one for double espresso and three frothing buttons.
The Rivo is priced at $229.99. It also has its own dedicated single-serve coffee packs, priced at $14.99 for an 18-count box: two medium roasts, delicato and classico; a dark roast, intenso; and a decaf pack.
Michelle Stacy, president of the Keurig business unit, said the new system “marks the latest chapter in GMCR’s drive toward unparalleled innovation and leadership. We’ve combined the ease and simplicity of Keurig single-cup technology with the strong heritage of premium espresso from Italy’s favorite coffee maker, Lavazza, to enable consumers to make authentic cappuccinos and lattes, all at the touch of a button.”
