NEW YORK--Illycaffé is slated to introduce its Hyper Espresso system, involving a capsule technology developed by the company, to retailers next April.
In contrast to traditional one-step percolation systems, the Illycaffé capsule technology uses a complete extraction system that functions with a two-phase preparation process, according to a statement by Illycaffé. The system produces a crema that is 70 percent greater in volume and 20 percent higher than a traditional espresso shot, the statement said.
The capsules come in containers that include 21 servings, and each container carries a suggested retail price of $15.95. The system is compatible with the 7 and X8 espresso makers manufactured by Francis Francis!, the Illycaffé subsidiary.
