NEW YORK—A generation after he transformed the vacuum-cleaner market with the cyclonic-separation vacuum, Sir James Dyson has set out to change the fan business with a new technology as well.
Dyson was on hand at an event at the Pomegranate Gallery here last night to unveil the AM02 Tower and the AM03 Floor Pedestal fans, which use his trademarked Air Multiplier technology. This innovation, which was first announced last October, brings air into the base of the unit, forces it through a loop amplifier and accelerates it through the aperture on top of the unit.
The aperture on the AM02 Tower is a long oval, while for the AM03 Floor Pedestal the shape is a circle. Both fans are priced to retail at $449, and both will be available at dyson.com and specialty home and consumer-electronics retailers next month, according to a spokeswoman for the company.
