STAMFORD, Conn.–Mary Rodgers, director of marketing communications for Cuisinart, delivered a presentation titled “The Power of Social Media: Driving Shoppers to Retail, from First of Contact to Point of Sale,” at the recent Shopper Insights in Action conference.
Rodgers focused on Cuisinart’s use of social media to drive retail growth, and delved into the brand’s activities within media such as Facebook, Twitter, retailer Web sites, the blogosphere and viral video. She also stressed the need to select the right outlets on which to focus.
“Traditional marketing focuses on what brands attempt to portray to consumers,” Rodgers said in her presentation. “Social media allows consumers to tell brands about themselves, while simultaneously increasing brand awareness by promoting interaction and a sense of community.”
