CHICAGO–This year’s introductions in the cookware and bakeware would make any chef drool. From removable handles to easy storage to copper cores, these products will help chefs bring form and function into the kitchen.
Adagio
Adagio Teas introduces ingenuiTEA, a teapot that simplifies the brewing of gourmet tea, and has a filtering system that is activated once the teapot is placed atop a cup, opening a valve on the bottom and releasing tea that is free of sediment. In addition, the company will show a number of borosilicate glass items, including a 42-ounce teapot and a water kettle.
Bialetti
Bialetti’s Cuor di Moka stovetop espresso maker has elegant details, a new and patented brewing system and an exclusive locking system. It also has a silicone handle and has two valves for safety and operation. The Impact Induction cookware line can be used on conventional and induction cooktops, and has a non-stick interior, is scratch-proof and suitable for use with metal utensils, along with a refined look.
Bodum
Bodum brings futuristic design to the coffee experience with its introduction of the Kenya Coffee Press. Featuring a frame of brushed stainless steel with intriguing oval cut outs, the Kenya will be offered in three sizes: 3-, 6- and 8-cup. The Kenya Tea Press will also be shown, featuring the same futuristic elements of the coffee press but in a round shape. The Chambord Stovetop Espresso Maker is made of stainless-steel construction and embodies the classic design elements of the original Bodum Chambord Coffee Press. With a black Bakelite handle, the unit also features a safety valve to prevent pressure inside the unit from getting too high and will come in three- and six-cup sizes. The Chambord Double Wall Coffee Press will also be shown and is made of heat-resistant borosilicate double-wall glass. Originally designed for the British Tea Council, the Assam Tea Press with stainless-steel infuser is also made of borosilicate glass and has a stainless-steel lid and infuser. It comes in 17- and 34-ounce sizes. Reminiscent of grandma’s old ceramic or porcelain chocolate jugs in form and shape, the Chocolatiere Chocolate Jug can create hot or cold chocolate drinks in minutes. Having a capacity of 40 ounces, the Jug is also made of borosilicate while the lid, spiral rod and propeller are made of stainless steel and/or plastic.
BonJour
Expanding its assortment of high-quality, innovatively designed French Press coffeemakers, BonJour offers its newly launched Rhone Collection Insulated French Press with patented Flavor Lock filter system. The classic, bistro-style glass carafe has a cylinder shape with a subtle vertical stripe motif and a simple glass arc handle. To ensure superior brewing results and the smoothest tasting coffee, the Insulated French Press also features BonJour’s signature Flavor Lock system, which shuts off the brewing process with an easy twist of the knob on the lid. Additionally, it includes a patented filtering lid to prevent sediment from being poured into cups after brewing and comes in a 6- and 8-cup capacity.
Chantal
Chantal will unveil its natural bakeware line at market, called PURE by Chantal. Made of all-natural ceramic bakeware and mugs, PURE can withstand high baking temperatures and comes in a vanilla color. Using only a clear glaze, Chantal also cuts energy consumption used during the firing process and is dishwasher- and microwave-safe. The company will also show its Copper Fusion line, which fuses copper between two carbon steel plates, and for which it recently signed “Top Chef” chef Tre Wilcox to promote it, as well as its Aladdin Tea Kettle and LIVESTRONG Travel Mug.
CIA Masters Collection
New to the Masters Collection bakeware assortment, the 10-by-15-by-1-inch Non-Stick Jelly Roll Pan is constructed from heavy-gauge aluminized steel to heat evenly and prevent warping with a platinum-colored, superior abrasion-resistant non-stick coating inside and out to help prevent over-browning and allow for easy release and cleanup. A lip on one side provides a secure grip for easy handling and flat edges allow baked goods to slide off easily.
Concept Housewares
Concept Housewares has entered into a licensing agreement with author and television chef Katie Chin for a new line of Asian cookware and accessories that reflect a contemporary approach to everyday cooking called Asian Cooking, Steaming and Serving by Katie Chin. The Katie Chin Cooks line of cookware will feature traditional carbon steel woks with colored handles to combine authentic flat-bottomed cookware with contemporary handles. Cristel
Cristel cookware will be introduced to the American market this March, as Haute Cuisine Imports brings the French company to the U.S. market with its two removable handle collections, Agate and Zenith. Made of 18/10 stainless steel, the Agate collection is of three-ply construction on the bottom of each pan and has a polished stainless-steel finish, while the Zenith is three ply from the bottom all the way up the sides and has a brushed stainless-steel finish. The handles are available in red, black, white, dark blue and stainless steel for the launch, with more colors to come later.
Cuisinart
Introducing GreenGourmet cookware, the company is offering this eco-friendly line designed with exclusive Cuisinart Ceramica non-stick technology. Available in five open-stock pieces—8-, 10- and 12-inch skillets, 11-inch square grill pan, and 10-inch round griddle/crepe pan—the line features a petroleum-free, ceramic-based coating that is applied at a temperature one half that of traditional non-sticks, and the coating is eco-friendly as it is water based, while traditional coatings are solvent-based. The non-stick coating is also scratch resistant and won’t peel, while the handles are designed with a v-shaped base to dissipate heat and keep handles cool. The collection’s packaging is made from 100 percent recycled materials and is printed using 100 percent soy ink.
DuPont
DuPont continues to put its science to work with its new Teflon Platinum Plus coating with enhanced scratch resistance. In controlled laboratory tests, it showed a 50 percent improvement in scratch resistance, which will enable cookware manufacturers to increase performance claims and more substantially differentiate their products. Platinum Plus’s enhanced scratch resistance also makes it metal utensil safe and more durable, so it will perform and look new even longer. Also new to attendees at the show is DuPont’s new exterior color coating system for cookware. The low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) formulation, water-based, two-coat system offers manufacturers an environmental advantage over solvent based exterior coatings, excellent color stability and better application efficiency. The exterior coatings will be available in more than 20 colors.
Emile Henry
Inspired by the soothing colors of the French impressionist landscape paintings, Emile Henry has released the Urban collection of soft, natural tones. Available in 13 table and ovenware pieces, and colored in slate, sand, sky and figue, the collection incorporates some of Emile Henry’s existing styles along with other shapes. The company’s Flame-Top line of a tagine, stewpots and a brazier has now added the Figue color, a rich Mediterranean purple, and which complements Flame-Top Green. Made of a flameproof ceramic, the line is designed to go directly on a heat source, whether that’s a gas flame, an electric or halogen stove, or a barbecue grill. Inspired by the shape of Asian rice bowls, Emile Henry has created the Japanese Cup, available in the bold Mediterranean colors of azure, cerise, citron and vert or, as a table setting, in slate, sand, sky and figue. With soft edges, the line is finished off with the potter’s stamp on the bottom, and is also available in the classic colors of white and black. Holding 7 ounces, it is sized right for baking individual cobblers, cakes, puddings and pot pies.

In addition, its induction-ready cast aluminum cookware line has a double layer of non-stick coating and will include a 10.5-inch square grill, a 10.5-inch, a 17.5- and a 23.5-inch square griddle. The removable handles of the 10.5-inch grill and griddle make storage an easy task even in the smallest of kitchens. It has also added a new portable induction cooktop to its line.
Fissler
Fissler’s new Blue Point Pressure Pan set, which includes two lids and a wire basket, is more than just for pressure cooking, but also for steaming, sauteing, braising, grilling or frying. The pressure skillet’s 10.2-inch diameter and 4.2 quart capacity makes it versatile enough to cook smaller meals but large enough to handle family dinners, too. Blue Point pressure cookers exceed the minimum safety requirements of the United States with innovative features such as the Euromatic Safety Valve, interlocking flanges on the lid, automatic steam release and residual pressure block. The blue indicator rod lets the cook know at a glance when gentle or speed settings of pressure have been achieved. The interior of the skillet features Fissler’s Novogrill surface, which has a honeycomb texture that keeps food from sticking with much less oil. In addition, the aluminum core and stainless-steel exterior of the CookStar base guarantee even heat distribution without hotspots, and can be used on any heat source, including induction. An included wire basket raises food just above the water level for gentle steaming with the conventional lid, or almost instant steaming under pressure, and can also be used for deep frying.
FoldTuk Kitchenware
Using a proprietary ceramic compound called Ceramber, FoldTuk Kitchenware has introduced a collapsible bakeware product that combines the foldability of silicone with the heat transferring abilities of Ceramber. Also called FoldTuk, it can be used in the oven, microwave, and freezer, store food and be washed in the dishwasher. When not in use, it can collapse down to a height of 1 inch for easy storage. Initially the product is available in 4- and 6-cup sizes, and in rectangle or oval shapes.
