CES to Present Home-Appliance Section

ARLINGTON, Va.–The 2011 International CES Show will include an area dedicated to home appliances.

Called the Connected Home Appliances TechZone, the section will offer both major and portable home appliances enabled to connect and network with the “smart” grid, thus saving energy by performing more efficiently, according to a joint statement from the Consumer Electronics Association, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers and The Retail Observer, which will be the sponsors of the new area. It will be located in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center in 10,000 square feet of space.

Joe McGuire, president of AHAM, said the section will showcase products and technologies centered on the “connected-home concept.” The next CES is scheduled for Jan. 6-9, 2011.
