CHICAGO–With a focus towards products for hot and cold beverages such as coffee and tea, the Capital Products brand had a soft launch at the International Home + Housewares Show last week. Capital Products has also signed a license agreement with Keurig to offer a line of Capital-branded accessories that bear the Keurig Brewed seal of approval.
While other companies offer accessories for Keurig’s product line, Capital is the only one that is an officially approved co-branded accessory maker, said Dean Chapman, president and CEO, who also oversees Prepara, though the two companies are separate.
Initially, Capital’s Keurig accessories include a milk frother and the K-Cup Bamboo Carousel 18. The silent frother, which will retail for $24.99 and runs on two AAA batteries, is made of anodized aluminum and is “quiet and powerful,” said Chapman. The bamboo carousel holds 18 pods and will also retail for $24.99. Two other Keurig-approved products will launch shortly, he added.
Keurig wanted to partner with a company that was “innovative” and “who pushed boundaries,” Chapman said. A lot of quality controls were part of the process in developing the products, he said, but that’s to ensure that “what’s sitting next to the Keurig brewers is of as high quality as the brewers themselves.”
The Capital brand will also contain other items that will not be branded as Keurig accessories, Chapman added. At the show, the brand showed had a squeeze bottle for caramel or chocolate drizzles and ice ball makers for cold drinks. “We want the home user to become a barista.”
