COPENHAGEN, Denmark–Bodum has unveiled a Bodum-lab in its store in Paris, in which shoppers can test the company’s kitchen products. The concept, which was launched earlier this year at the company’s store in the Tivoli Gardens here, is intended to involve consumers in the testing and development of new kitchen products. In the lab, demonstrations are provided by professional chefs, and demonstration films are displayed on screens in the stores while customers test the equipment. The store also has the capability for shoppers to order products online, and have them delivered directly to their home addresses.
Bodum uses the lab to collect consumer comments and criticisms, and use this feedback in future product development.
“We have already benefited greatly from suggestions from our customers through channels such as Facebook and Amazon,” said co-owner Jørgen Bodum. “Bodum-lab is the natural next step in our direct dialogue with customers.”
The Paris lab is on the first floor of Bodum’s new store there, located on the Avenue de Opera between the Louvre and the Paris Opera. If the concept is successful, the company said, it will be introduced in more Bodum stores. Currently, the company owns more than 300 stores.
