NEW YORK-The International Housewares Association held its Affordable Innovation product event yesterday, allowing press to view housewares products that featured design and innovation, but at an affordable price. Here are some of the highlights:
Lifetime’s Savora line is stepping into wine accessories, and showed several corkscrews—the waiter’s corkscrew, the winged corkscrew and the self-pulling corkscrew—as well as a pourer/stopper bottle stopper. All are crafted in a sleek, car-inspired design for which the line is known … The iconic Kobenstyle cookware, previously in bright colors, is now available from Dansk in a stainless steel version for consumers who prefer the appearance and cooking properties of stainless steel … Aquasana has just started shipping its new Aquasana powered water filtration system, which a company spokesperson said takes out ten times more contaminants than the typical drip filter pitcher … Orange Chef debuted its Prep Pad, which, with the accompanying iOS app, can quickly weigh foods (up to 15 pounds) as well as provide nutritional information on one’s iPad or iPhone. Consumers can set nutritional goals and see how many carbs, proteins and other values they are eating. It is made in the U.S … Aladdin has expanded its Mason jar line, which will roll out at a nationwide retailer in January. Targeting outdoor entertaining, the collection is BPA-free and includes dispensers, pitchers, cups and tumblers, all in bright colors. Every item will retail for less than $9 … Dexas International highlighted its new dual-chamber hydration bottle, which allows someone to carry two different beverages within the same bottle via side-by-side chambers. It also showed its two pizza cutters—the Rocker and the Roller—and the over-the-sink cutting board with strainer that has a contoured cutting surface to keep foods and juices on the board … Meyer Corp. highlighted items from its Cake Boss line, including bakeware, spatulas, cake carriers and cake decorating kits, all of which include Cake Boss Buddy Valastro’s both fun and functional details … Become Gurus looks to make weighing a positive experience with the Weightless Scale. Rather than focusing on the actual number of pounds one weighs, it instead gives the consumer how many pounds up or down they are instead (though they can choose to view the full number if they want). It works with iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
