NEW YORK—Westgate has purchased the Brazilian assets of Quaker Fabrics to increase its international reach.
The company has received the U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s approval for the acquisition of Quaker Textil Do Brasil, which is based in Sao Paolo. Quaker filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August 2007. The deal gives Westgate—whose parent, Home Furnishings International [HFI], is based in China and which has distribution centers in Shanghai, Belgium and Mexico—a base for expansion in South America.
