WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-As part of the designext section, its venue for emerging designers, Surtex has issued a call for entries to the International Student Design Competition for its May 2010 show.
Entrants must include designs in the fabric, wallcovering and floorcovering categories, and must create six to nine surface designs that can be used in a residence in the year 2015. The deadline for entries is Jan. 30, 2010. A jury of professionals from the design industry—including artists, designers and representatives from consumer and trade media—will judge the entries.
Four winners will be chosen and given the opportunity to display their work in the designext section at Surtex, scheduled for Sunday, May 16 through Tuesday, May 18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City..
“By incorporating the two—designext and the long-esteemed annual International Student Design Competition—Surtex has raised the bar to better reflect today’s competitive marketplace,” said Penny Sikalis, the show’s manager and vice president of GLM, owner of the show.
