This month will find Home Source International ready for current and potential customers at its showroom in 230 Fifth Ave. Throughout this year, however, the bedding, bath and furniture resource has been present at a variety of other trade shows throughout the United States.

Home Source also exhibits at the New York International Gift Fair along with the New York Home Fashions Market. With its acquisition earlier this year of furniture resource Shiner International, the company was present at this spring’s High Point Market and at the Las Vegas Market in late July and early August. At the latter market, Home Source occupied about 1,000 square feet in the Loloi showroom in building B of the World Market Center.

In addition, Home Source opened its new showroom at AmericasMart Atlanta in January, measuring 3,200 square feet. For this month’s textiles market, Home Source will unveil its revamped showroom at 230 Fifth Ave.

According to Keith Sorgeloos, the company’s president and CEO, the increasingly crowded show schedule is part of Home Source’s strategy to extend its reach into new customer areas. “We are aggressively pursuing the high-end specialty-store retail and online business with state-of-the-art showrooms, while at the same time expanding our product mix,” Sorgeloos said.

The enlarged product offering includes made-in-America merchandise, produced at Home Source’s recently opened factory in Marianna, Fla., “to set us up long term as a one-stop shop for the total home by offering home textiles, furniture, lighting and gifts,” Sorgeloos said.

The strategy has thus far paid some dividends to Home Source. Sorgeloos described the showroom space at Las Vegas Market as a success. “In this case, if you build it, the customer will come and, fortunately, that has been the case for us,” he said. —David Gill
