NEW YORK–John Piazza has been named president and chief executive officer of WestPoint Home, succeeding Joe Pennacchio, who has left the company.
Piazza, who reports to Peter Shea, president of Icahn Enterprises, WestPoint Home’s parent, comes to the home-fashions manufacturer from Sara Lee Corp., where most recently he was CEO. His experience includes 22 years in the apparel industry and 32 years in the marketing and selling of consumer packaged goods.
Under Pennacchio, the company continued to lose top-line sales and was unable to post a profit.
Piazza will also serve on the boards of directors of both WestPoint Home and WestPoint International. In a company statement, Shea said Piazza’s “successful track record in sales and marketing will be invaluable as the company re-establishes itself as the premier marketer of branded and private-label home textile products.”
