Herb Lichtenberg, Former S. Lichtenberg President, Dies

NEW YORK-Herb Lichtenberg, former president of S. Lichtenberg & Sons, has died.
A 1955 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Lichtenberg joined the company founded by his father, Sam, in 1958, according to a biography posted on the West Point Association of Graduates Web site. He became president of the company in 1980 and ran it with his brother, Alan, who was chairman and also a West Point graduate. Alan Lichtenberg died in 2003. The two brothers guided the company into one of the largest manufacturers in the U.S. home-textiles industry.
In 1988, Herb Lichtenberg received the Marvin Rosenberg Humanitarian Award from the Home Fashion Products Association. Throughout the years, he continued to support West Point and was instrumental in the building of the academy’s Jewish Cadet Chapel.
Among his survivors are his sons, Michael, current president of S. Lichtenberg, and Scott, a vice president of the company. His age and details on funeral arrangements were unavailable.
