WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–GLM has rescheduled the start date for the summer version of the New York International Gift Fair to Saturday, Aug. 15.
Previously, the scheduled start date for the show was Friday, Aug. 14. In a statement issued last week, GLM said the new date is a return to the traditional Saturday-to-Thursday staggered opening-closing date pattern. The gift fair will conclude on Thursday, Aug. 20.
The statement said that from Saturday through Wednesday, New York’s Newest and Studio will be open at Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 92, At Home will be open at Pier 94 and Handmade will be open at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. All of the other gift fair divisions—Accent on Design, At Home featuring Home Textiles, EX•TRACTS, General Gift, Personal Accessories and Tabletop & Housewares—will run from Sunday through Thursday.
GLM also said the summer gift fair will include an expansion of 50 percent by the personal-care resources at EX•TRACTS, and that the Personal Accessories featuring Details portion will boost its wearables and fashion accessories by 35 percent. New York’s Newest is relocating to Pier 92 from Pier 90.
The SustainAbility design for a better world display and seminar series will return at the summer gift fair, with a curated exhibit of the newest global gift and home-industry suppliers whose products, manufacturing processes and business practices are eco-friendly and socially responsible. Also scheduled are educational seminars on sustainability, color, design trends and retail strategies.
