NEW YORK–Four exhibitors in the juried Accent on Design division of the New York International Gift Fair were honored yesterday for design creativity and ingenuity. Accent on Design awards for best new product design and best collection were presented to Parametre by 3form for best new product design, for its innovative 3D textiles system that redefines space, creating shade, shadow and light with soft walls. Creative Danes was awarded best collection for its Menu Collection, presenting unusual applications of materials and surprising solutions for everyday products.
In addition, Working Class Studio/Savannah College of Art and Design won the best booth presentation for creating an energetic and youthful environment, showcasing their collection in its best light. And Mizzonk won the overall excellence award for “a remarkable ability to follow a personal vision and transform it into product, collection, presentation and booth,” according to a statement from show organizer George Little Management.
“The winter 2008 Accent on Design award winners represent the broad scope of design aesthetics—from industrial to artisanal,” said Priscila Onou, divisional manager. “The award winners reflect not only talent and ingenuity of finished product, but also passion for design and creativity.” Judging criteria included innovation, function, originality and design.
Accent on Design runs through Wednesday, Feb. 6, at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
