NEW YORK–Retailer UncommonGoods has announced the three finalists for its YouGoods contest, a competition it launched in honor of National Inventors Month.
The finalists are: the Grocery’minder by Francene Pisano Dudziec, which is a bag with a wet-erase grocery list on the front; the Double Wall Tea Cup by Endrit Hajno, which has notched bottom so the string of the tea bag can be tucked out of sight; and regreet by Christy Eichers, which offers a way to reuse old greeting cards.
People now have through Sunday, Aug. 29, to vote for their favorite of the three. The winner will receive $1,500 and a pass to join UncommonGoods in presenting the winning design at Makerfaire NYC, Sept. 25 to 26. The winning design will also be sold exclusively by UncommonGoods and the winner will receive a 10 percent commission.
The guest judges for the contest are Graham Hill, Treehugger.com; Debera Johnson, Pratt Institute; Becky Stern, CRAFT Magazine; Allan Chochinov, Core77; and David Bolotsky, UncommonGoods.
