HICKORY, N.C.–Hickory Springs has formed a license agreement with Panama Jack, the beach-products brand, for a line of futons.
The line includes 11 mattress-and-frame ensembles which convert from sofas to sleep surfaces, with two different mattress options—8-inch and 10-inch. The 8-inch mattress is made with Hickory Springs’ Preserve bio-based foam and fiber, while the 10-inch mattress includes an innerspring layer with the foam.
The line will comprise two collections. Urban Retreat, featuring the 8-inch mattress, will be priced at $699, while the Passport Collection, with the 10-inch mattress, will be priced from $999 to $1,299.
Hickory Springs is using the term “convertible furniture” for the collection “because the futon has evolved to be a much more stylish, high-quality and versatile product,” said Dwayne Welch, executive vice president. Welch described the Panama Jack brand as “youthful and adventurous, but also resonates with 50-year-olds who know the name from when they were children.”
