ST. LOUIS–Furniture Brands International Inc. said it will separate its Henredon and Drexel Heritage offices, in a move aimed at better aligning Henredon with the Furniture Brands Designer Group and strengthening the company’s retail business.
Henredon’s management and staff will move to one of the furniture maker’s facilities in High Point, N.C., that contains both offices and on-site manufacturing operations. Henredon will continue to operate as an integrated unit under the recently formed Designer Group, which also includes Maitland-Smith, Pearson, Hickory Chair and Laneventure. This group, led by Dan Bradley, president, targets high-end consumers and professional interior designers.
At Drexel Heritage, employees will move to Furniture Brands’ Thomasville, N.C., offices, sharing space with Thomasville Furniture Industries, and working under Ed Teplitz, Thomasville president.
The moves are expected to be completed during the second quarter. Furniture Brands said it intends to sell the Henredon/Drexel Heritage building, and use proceeds to lower debt and implement its strategic plan.
