HIGH POINT, N.C.–John Bray, chief executive officer of Vanguard Furniture, has been elected chairman of the American Home Furnishings Alliance, the trade organization representing furniture companies. The election was held as part of the group’s annual meeting in Palm Beach, Fla., earlier this month.
Bray succeeds Bruce Bradburn of Bradburn Gallery who now becomes immediate past-chairman of the AHFA board. Also elected were Bob Duncan of American Leather as first vice chairman and Jeff Cook of Broyhill as second vice chairman.
At the meeting, the AHFA also awarded its Distinguished Service Award to Hassell H. Franklin of Franklin Furniture, the largest privately owned furniture company in Mississippi. In presenting the award, John D. Bassett III said, “For nearly four decades, he has commanded a steady ship in the face of extreme adversity and competition while at the same time provided jobs and security for his workers.”
