HIGH POINT, N.C.—At next month’s High Point Market, the Antique & Design Center, located on the ground and mezzanine levels of historic Market Square, will have a number of social and educational events.
On Friday, Oct. 12, from 4-7 p.m., the A&DC will kick off market with a “Welcome to Market” party, where there will be live music, food from 1618 Seafood Grille and a chance to win a $500 gift certificate towards an A&DC purchase.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, from 6:30-9 p.m., in the Market Square Courtyard, the A&DC will host Bidazzled, a live auction and cocktail party to benefit Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest Food Bank. Antiques, home furnishings and objets d’art were donated by A&DC and IMC exhibitors for the auction, and items will be on display Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Antique & Design Center MS-G/ADC 27. Bids can be left prior to the live auction in person or online.
Every day from Saturday, Oct. 13-Wednesday, Oct. 17, there will be reoccurring events: Nosh at Noon with Andrew Harley Antiques LTD, Tusk Old World and Vintage Fabric & Etc. (A&DC MS-G 4-5) from noon to 1 p.m.; Wines and Cheese are Free at Three, with Wunderley (A&DC MS-G 38), from 3-7 p.m.; wines and nibbles with Whitehall Antiques and D.R. Grissom Collection of Estate & Fine Jewelry (A&DC MS-G 37), 3-7 p.m.; Whine at Five with McLean Lighting and Stout’s Great Stuff (A&DC MS-G 20 and 36); and a Mid-Century party with designers Candace and Michael DeLoach (A&DC MS-M 55), 5-7 p.m.
In addition, seminars include: “Trend Forecast 2013 for the Home Furnishings & Antiques Industry,” on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 2-3:30 p.m., presented by Bill Indursky, co-founder of VandM.com; “Antiques — The Luxury of Green Living for the 21st Century,” on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 3:30-5 p.m., presented by antiques and design authority David Lindquist; “Couture Kitchens; Sources and Suppliers,” on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 10-11:30 a.m., presented by kitchen designer Rebecca Reynolds; “Anatomy of a Collection — What is it and How do You Value It?” on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2-3:30 p.m., presented by “Antiques Roadshow” guest appraiser Ken Farmer; and “Creative Entrepreneurship in the ‘Conceptual’ Age of the 21st Century,” on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 3:30-5 p.m., presented by Jan Detter, artist, design entrepreneur and Wake Forest University professor.
