MARIETTA, Ga.-Learning how trends are forecasted will be at the heart of a seminar sponsored by Wools of New Zealand during Surfaces week.
Titled “Design Directives—Why Trends Emerge, Fads Fade and Classic Style Lives on Forever,” the three-hour, CEU-accredited seminar will be led by Deborah Burnett, a design authority and Epigenetic Design researcher.
The seminar takes place Feb. 1, from 1-4 p.m. Surfaces is scheduled for Feb. 2-4.
Epigenetic design looks at the relationship between genetics and the built environment with the target of creating a space that supports wellness.
The event “will be a great opportunity for floor covering executives, designers and decorators to find out how color trends are forecasted,” Burnett said. “I’ll speak about how interior surfaces and color affect the body. How and why certain features—long views to nature, natural light, temperature, humidity and certain sounds— help create an enriched environment.”
Attendees will also have the opportunity to work on hands-on exercises to come up with their own forecasts during the seminar.
