NEW YORK-- Tai Ping Carpets turned to ancient empires and their customs when bringing its new Empire Collection to fruition.
Designed for Tai Ping by New York-based designer Carla Weisberg, Empire brings the ornate and colorful patterning of Japanese costumes into modern times and also takes a cue from the paisley motifs popular during the Ottoman Empire.
The hand-tufted collection is made in China by Tai Ping and uses different qualities of semi-worsted wool, dull silk and flax, and plays with different levels of pile heights to provide depth and texture to the designs.
The residential line was created with the upscale consumer in mind. The company said it was designed for clients who desires a custom carpet or rug for their homes.
