CALHOUN, Ga.–Surya was recognized last week by the government of India and the Ministry of Commerce’s Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) for excellence in exports.
Surya President Satya Tiwari accepted the “Niryat Shree” Gold Trophy in the Residual Products-SSI Category from the president of India, Honorable Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, during a ceremony held in New Delhi.
Also present to accept the award was Tiwari’s father, Surya, who founded the company in 1976.
The FIEO represents India’s entrepreneurial spirit of enterprise in the global market and helps to promote trade by acting as a liaison between its members and the government of India, according to a Surya press release. Established in 1965, FIEO members account for more than 70 percent of the country’s international exports, the release said.
