In the public eye for decades, Priscilla Presley is known for a lot of things. Most obviously, she’s the former wife of Elvis Presley and the mother of Lisa Marie Presley. She’s acted in a slew of television shows and movies; as a businesswoman she helped turn Graceland into a moneymaking powerhouse; and most recently she competed in Dancing With the Stars.

Presley is also a decorator—and has been for just about as long as she can remember. Speaking about the Priscilla Presley Home Collection, created in partnership with HStudios, Presley recalls customizing her mother’s curtains as a child.

“I’m a frustrated decorator,” the soft-spoken Presley said in an interview with HFN. “I love the aesthetics that go into making a beautiful home.”

Presley had been considering creating a home collection when a photo of a headboard by HStudio in Los Angeles Confidential Magazine caught her eye. “It reminded me of a headboard Elvis and I had years ago,” she said. “It was really cutting edge.”

Presley contacted HStudio founder Shlomi Haziza, and “we hit it off like crazy,” Presley said. “Shlomi’s one of the first artists that really got me. We kind of complement each other.

“He’s masculine, I’m feminine—the yin and yang of life.”

Priscilla Presley Home is a collaboration between Presley and Haziza. It was unveiled at the Las Vegas Market in January and makes its High Point Market debut this month.

The collection, described as “affordable,” ranges from sofas to accent furniture, rugs, wall decor and tabletop items, all created by HStudio. It mixes vintage inspiration with modern accents, and can be mixed and matched.

“My sense of style is eclectic, but with a bit of an edge,” Presley said. “I’ve been in many homes and I see how people are afraid to take risks. I’m a little more out of the box.”

A romantic, glamorous sensibility runs through three distinctive looks—Vintage Eclectic, Traditional Living and Gothic Modern—in the collection. Vintage Eclectic embraces vintage style and the natural beauty of butterflies and flowers, with some items featuring a dark purple hue for dramatic effect. Traditional Living mixes traditional style with warm and welcoming colors, along with a horse motif in accent items such as pillows and wall art. Gothic Modern mixes classic style with a rock and roll edge that is inspired by a sense of freedom represented by a dove motif.

“It’s been so exciting working on the collection,” Presley said. “It’s like a baby for me.”

Haziza said Presley was surprisingly vocal about small details. “She was very particular about what each piece would do and how practical it is,” he said. “She was very adamant, for instance, that the vanities have trays for lipstick and makeup. The collection is sophisticated and simple at the same time.
“We took practical and made it edgy and unexpected.”

HStudio is currently in talks with various retailers about carrying the line, but no one has officially picked up the collection. Both Presley and Haziza expressed hope that retailers will carry the entire line, as opposed to taking a piece-by-piece approach.

Presley, who also has her own jewelry line, said that decorating “has always been my true love. I brought my mother to the showroom. She said, ‘I can’t believe it. You started this when you were 10 years old.’”
