NEW YORK—A fund raising event for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, which will also honor Elizabeth Miller, senior vice president of design for Karastan, is set for Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m.
The event, which will raise funds for the well-known group that fights breast cancer, will be held at the CHF Industries showroom at One Park Avenue.
The event grew out of earlier receptions organized by Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and has worked diligently ever since to raise both awareness and funds. This year’s event is co-sponsored by five industry associations: Executives Working in Home Textiles, International Furnishings and Design Association, Greater New York Home Furnishings Association, American Society of Interior Designers and National Kitchen and Bath Association. Corporate sponsors have also donated funding so that all proceeds can go to Susan G. Komen, according to the organizers.
“Elizabeth Miller is an inspiration to all who know her,” said Joan Karron of CHF, who along with the company’s Frank Foley, will serve as hosts for the evening. “She’s made this event a rallying cry for everyone in our industry -- men and women alike -- to lend their support.”
The reception will also feature a presentation by Dr. Dara Richardson-Heron, the CEO of Komen Greater NYC.
