NEW YORK–ABC Carpet & Home will host a fund-raising reception next Thursday, Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m., for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the organization that looks to eradicate breast cancer.
Eric Brinker, the son of Komen founder Nancy Brinker, will address attendees in what is his first visit to New York on behalf of the organization, and share his experience growing up alongside the grass-roots organization.
Suggested donations for the event are $100 per ticket and they are available online at veederperman.com, with proceeds being contributed to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“I’m incredibly proud that every single advancement in the science of breast cancer in the past 26 years has been touched or funded by a Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant,” said Eric Brinker. “Since I was 5 years old, I’ve been immersed in the organization and share my mother’s passion—and the passion of millions of volunteers and participants around the world—to help find the cure.”
Named for Nancy Brinker’s sister, who died of breast cancer, Komen for the Cure has raised more than $1 billion for research, public education and medical care in its commitment to fight the disease since being founded in 1982.
