CALHOUN, Ga.—Come next month, Surya will have a bigger presence at High Point Market, with plans to open its new 26,000 square foot showroom in Showplace — a big leap up from its former space of 6,000 square feet.
The new space will allow the company to do more than display product. The company wants to provide inspiration as well to retailers, said Seth King, vice president, sales and marketing. “We want to make it an experience, not just, ‘Here’s a rug.’” On the fourth floor, the new showroom takes up one full side of the building, King added.
In addition, its campus here in Calhoun will expand with the addition of two more buildings. It just bought its third building and is currently remodeling it with a modern layout, said King. Surya’s sales and marketing teams will move into that facility. The company will build a fourth building for warehousing space, and which will be about 70,000-80,000 square feet large and completed in the summer, according to King. “We needed the space,” he said — and retailers need the product. “You can’t sell product and then wait six months to send it,” the retailer “needs it now.”
