PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.—Safavieh furnished 11 rugs and a designer wing chair for the fifth annual House Beautiful 2014 Chair Chase held in New York City on March 14.
This year’s scavenger hunt included a Rug Race for the first time, with Safavieh hemp and jute rugs awarded at each of the event’s nine secret locations from Lincoln Center to Soho. Sponsored by the Sustainable Furnishings Council, all rugs and the 20 chairs awarded to winners were eco-friendly “green” designs produced by SFC members.
“We are proud to be an SFC member, and for the opportunity to showcase our sustainable rugs in House Beautiful’s most important social media event of the year. Every detail of the Manhattan Chair Chase and Rug Race reinforced the great work our industry is doing in green design,” said Arash Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal.
Safavieh provided rugs from the Thom Filicia hemp and jute ikat rug collection, and from its sustainable Natural Fiber, Bohemian and Organica collections, all made with jute or hemp fibers. A Fallon wing chair upholstered in natural linen from the Safavieh Home Furnishings retail division was the giveaway at Union Square Park, near the company’s signature gallery at 902 Broadway.
For those unable to get to Manhattan, House Beautiful and SFC held a national Twitter Scavenger Hunt, which consumers across the country could enter. Winners of Safavieh’s Karsen Chair and Bohemian rug in the online event will be announced the week of March 17. www.HouseBeautiful.com/WINONTWITTER
