NEW YORK– Oprah Winfrey lies on a Safavieh rug on the May cover of O The Oprah Magazine.
The photo shoot’s stylist asked the rug manufacturer for beige and pink Aubussons, the company said, and narrowed the choices down to one antique rug and another from the company’s Aubusson collection, which was used in the final shot. The Aubusson collection is a flatweave line handwoven in China of high-quality wool. The rug used—a 9-by-12 that retails for $3,348—is now on display in Safavieh’s showroom.
Reclining in a purple dress from Carms Couture Designs by Vicky Tiel and wearing shoes from Sarah Jessica Parker’s new collection, Winfrey was shot by celebrity photographer Ruven Afanador for O Magazine. She also did an interview on aging with ET television while lying on the rug.
After 15 years and almost 200 covers it is the only Winfrey cover where she’s lying down, a spokesperson from Safavieh said.
