NEW YORK—At next week’s New York Home Fashions Market, long time rug and textiles company M&Z Marketing plans introductions in several categories, including a jersey knit, chunky shag rug in six solid colors.
Clyde Zucker, president, said that he was “looking for something different” with the shag rug, which is offered in four sizes—2-by-3, 3-by-5, 4-by-6 and 5-by-8. Unlike similar products in the market, it is made of virgin cotton instead of recycled material. “It’s first quality.”
The rug is made in Bangladesh, the first time that M&Z is working in that country. And the line is also priced very well, he said: from $20 for the 2-by-3 to $99 for the 5-by-8. The available colors are denim, brown, silver (gray), cream, turquoise and red. “It’s a multi-purpose, multi-room rug,” Zucker said.
In addition, he is introducing new sleep pillows, with each focusing on a health-related issue such as sciatica, sleep apnea—and even minimizing wrinkles. Most of the pillows have been designed and endorsed by doctors to address these issues, and also have updated packaging.
The company’s biggest category is bedding, and one of the introductions for market is the Versailles collection, which features a 6.5-inch embroidered hem with an intricate pattern, embroidered piping and either solid or embossed patterns. It will be available in white and ivory. M&Z will also feature a blanket-sized throw in 10 animal skin designs.
The company shows in suite 535 in 7 West 34th Street.
