Whether they include designer launches, educational opportunities or just a reason to relax with industry friends, these events are a great way to keep abreast of industry happenings.

Saturday, Oct. 19:
2 p.m.: Surya will present “Coordinating a Room – A Conversation with Candice Olson,” for which Olson will discuss several recent home decorating projects and how she transformed ordinary living spaces into stylish and sophisticated ones. Showplace, 4100

4-9 p.m.: Phillips Collection Industry Mixer, IHFC C-202. Co-sponsored by IMC, WithIt, ASFD, YHFP, SFC and ART.

5-6:30 p.m.: Nourison will officially launch its collection with designer Kathy Ireland. IHFC, IH-101 InterHall

Sunday, Oct. 20:
10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Capel will host Designer Day, where Genevieve Gorder, Kevin O’Brien, Coco and—the latest designers to join Capel’s licensed portfolio—Susan Hable Smith and Katharine Hable Sweeney of Hable Construction, will be available to meet with attendees. Market Square, Space 112

11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Abu Rugs and Home will host a brunch to celebrate its recent rug collaboration with High Point University students. 5626 Riverdale Road, Jamestown, N.C.

4 p.m.: Surya will present “Social Media Success in the Home Decor Industry,” where a panel of industry thought leaders will discuss the evolving role of social media in the home decor and interior design space. Showplace, 4100

4-7 p.m.: Company C will host its 20th anniversary celebration. IHFC-D431.

5 p.m.: In an expanded showroom, Loloi will host a market party, featuring live music from Jaxson Jill, catered hors d’oeuvres and drinks. IHFC, D-320

Monday, Oct. 21:

Tuesday, Oct. 22:
2 p.m.: In Surya’s showroom, Sherwin-Williams will present Colormix 2014, a four-palette collection that draws influences from fashion, science, nature, pop culture and global traditions and will provide design professionals with a guide to help them define the moods they want to create and select colors for projects. 0.1 CEU credit. 11 a.m.: Surya will hold a Merchandising Walk Through, where attendees can see its integrated merchandising solutions, including its newest one—Surya Complements—as well as learn about increasing store revenue by using creative displays. Showplace, 4100
