ATLANTA-The Atlanta International Area Rug Market celebrated the winners of its America’s Magnificent Carpets Awards during market last week, recognizing those in both the handmade and power-loomed categories as well as the best showroom for each of the four area rug floors in Building 1.
For handmade rugs, the winners were: Couristan, in the $012 per square foot category; F.J. Kashanian, $12.01-23 per square foot; Ebisons Harounian Imports, $23.01-35 per square foot; Caravan Rug Corp., $35.01-46 per square foot; Amer Rugs, $46.01-56 per square foot; Michaelian & Kohlberg, $56.01-65 per square foot; and The Creative Touch, $65.01 per square foot and over.
In power-loomed rugs, the winners were: Kas Oriental Rugs for the $0-200 per square foot category; Loloi Rugs, $200.01-400; Capel, $400.01-1,000; and Nourison Industries for $1,000.01 and up.
Eliko won for the antique rug category, while Tibet Rug Company received the award for contemporary rugs. The Buyer’s Choice Award was Paramount Rugs.
In addition, one showroom on each of the area rug floors was recognized for visual merchandising innovations with the Visual Display Award. The winners were Karastan on Floor 3, Loloi Rugs on Floor 4, Marcella Fine Rugs on Floor 5, and Shaw on Floor 6.
