Las Vegas Market Opens



LAS VEGAS–The summer edition of Las Vegas Market opens today, and it looks to be a busy show with a slew of events on tap. Numerous new showrooms are debuting to the industry this market,  and there will be multiple chances to network, learn or just socialize. And, of course, there will be a plethora of product introductions.

Fifteen vendors are participating in Accessories Resource Team’s ART card program during market, offering member retailers exclusive deals. Seminars at market will cover a range of topics. “What the Bleep do I Say on Facebook?” will start today at 10:30 am in the Retailer Resource Center, Building C, C496, and will be given by Crystal Vilkaitis, social media expert. “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Search Engine Marketing” will take place from 1-2 p.m. today at the World Forum, Building B, 16th floor, and presented by David Rodnitzky, PPC Associates. 9-11 a.m.: Four Hands will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new showroom; champagne and a light brunch served. Building A, A140

Las Vegas Market Opens



LAS VEGAS-The Winter 2012 Las Vegas Market opens today with a plethora of new products and a full slate of networking and educational events.

A highlight at this market is the Made in U.S.A. pavilion, containing American-made products from nearly 40 companies. The new 5,000-square-foot pavilion is located on the second floor of Building B.

HGTV’s Monica Pederson and trend expert Julie Smith Vincenti will host “First Look,” a discussion of hot styles at 10 a.m. in the World Forum, Building B, 16th Floor.

Liora Manne cuts the ribbon on her new showroom, Bldg. A #214, at 11:30 a.m.

Arteriors will host a champagne brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bldg. A #453, to celebrate the new Lisa Luby Ryan collection. Nova Lighting will host a Pomegranate Passion Winter Collection launch party from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in its Bldg. A showroom, #355.

Priscilla Presley will discuss her new home collection from 2-2:30 p.m. today in the LVDC seminar room, Bldg. C, #176. At 3 p.m., Linon Home Décor Products will have a ribbon cutting for its new showroom, Bldg. A, #726. Also at 3 p.m. is Silk Route’s ribbon cutting, Bldg. C, #124.

From 3:30-4:30 p.m., the seminar “How to Use Smart Phones, iPads, and Other Mobile Devices as Furniture Sales Trainers” will take place in the RRC seminar room on the fourth floor of Bldg. C.

To celebrate its new collections, Capel Rugs will be giving away a Kindle Fire tablet every day from Monday, Jan. 30 to Wednesday, Feb. 1, during Las Vegas Market in its showroom, Bldg. A, 226.

From 4-6 p.m., Jaipur welcomes designer and television host Chayse Dakota to its showroom in Bldg. B, #502.

ART and The Phillips Collection will host their industry mixer, which starts at 4 p.m. in the Phillips showroom, Bldg. A, Suite 202.

Kas continues its 30th anniversary celebration with a party in showroom B-570 from 5-6 p.m.

From 6-8 p.m., the Food Truck Festival will take place in the Grand Plaza.

Las Vegas Market Opens



LAS VEGAS–The summer edition of Las Vegas Market kicks off here today at World Market Center with plenty of new products, new showrooms, networking opportunities and business and educational seminars.

Today’s events include a cupcake giveaway at Shaw Living’s new showroom (B-559) and a ribbon cutting at Kalco’s new showroom (A-208), both beginning at 2 p.m. From 2-3 pm. in C-596, there will be cooking demonstrations and wine tasting in the GIFT + HOME’s gourmet section with master chef Sammy and master sommeliers Larry O’Brien and Thomas Burke.

At 3 p.m., Karastan will host a Presidential Designers meet and greet in its new showroom (C-312). In the new GIFT + HOME Garden area, C-512, a High Tea will take place from 3-5 p.m., with complimentary tea sandwiches, cocktails and a selection of gourmet teas. From 3-6 p.m., New Century Pictures (A-124) will have a meet and greet with its artist John Butler. Studio A/Global Views will host a showroom grand opening from 4 to 4:30 p.m. (A-154).

PuTTin’ OuT will host a brief seminar on how to tweet from 3:30-4:00 p.m. at Hot Spot in C301. Raymond Waites will host a tweetup in the same place from 4-5:30.

From 5-6:30 p.m., attendees are invited to a networking reception hosted by WithIt and Four Hands in A-146. Retailers can earn a free membership to WithIt at this event if they are a new customer to Four Hands at Las Vegas Market. Four Hands will also have a drawing for the new Kelly Hoppen Ideas Book.

The Phillips Collection will host its biannual industry mixer from 5-7 p.m. (A-202). Every day of market, from 4-6 p.m., there will be a reception in the new location of the Design & Living Wine Bar (C-454).

In addition, the inaugural Gift for Life charity event benefitting DIFFA will take place from 6-8 p.m. on the 16th Floor of Building B, Skyview Terrace, tonight. Sponsored by World Market Center Las Vegas, GIFT + HOME, and the Gift & Home Trade Association, the reception will include cocktails, appetizers, live music, prizes and a breathtaking view of the Las Vegas skyline. Gift for Life is the gift and home industries’ national charity funding the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Lastly, several seminars also take place today. From 2-3 p.m. in the World Forum, 16th Floor of Building B, Cinda Baxter will talk about the 3/50 Project, which looks to support and strengthen local communities. Also from 2-3 p.m. in the WHFA Retailer Resource Center, C-496, the session “Web-based Intelligence” will take place with speaker Bob George,, who will discuss software service applications to improve top line and bottom line profitability. From 3:30-4:30 p.m., “My Associates Have Been Trained & Don’t Need or Want More Training” will take place in the WHFA Retailer Resource Center (C-496), and Mark Lacy, The Furniture Training Company, will discuss the impact an organized, ongoing furniture training program has on store sales.
