HICKSVILLE, N.Y.–Kalaty Rug Corp. will have two new showrooms this year: one at its headquarters here and the other at World Market Center Las Vegas, its first at the West Coast market.
Since 1979, Kalaty has maintained a showroom presence in New York City, most recently at 7 W New York on 34th Street. But with 7 W New York transitioning from showroom to mostly office use, Kalaty decided to open the new one at its Long Island headquarters and closed the New York City one in December. The new showroom is now open and about 2,500 square feet.
“We have kept a showroom presence in New York City for more than 35 years,” said Ramin Kalaty, one of the five sons of Mirza Kalaty, who founded Kalaty in the U.S. in 1979. “However, now that we are opening the Las Vegas showroom and increasing the number of major furniture and rug shows we participate in each year from four to six, it makes good sense for us on all fronts to move our New York-area showroom from the city to our Long Island headquarters.” The showroom is a short train or cab ride from New York City and its airports, the company said.
In Las Vegas, the more than 3,700-square-foot showroom will be in Building B, spaces B-455 and B-449, and showcase the company’s product line as well as have catalogs, marketing materials and dealer merchandise display and sample racks.
“We feel that being in Las Vegas will help us build and maintain a bigger and better West Coast presence. This show and showroom are definitely a positive move for us,” said Farshad Kalaty, another son of Mizra Kalaty.
