WESTBURY, N.Y.—G. Fried has won Oriental Weavers’ Options Rug Gallery Contest with its displays highlighting Oriental Weavers’ Options reversible area-rug line.
Yesterday, Mike Riley, Oriental Weavers’ president, presented owner Wendy Fried with an iPad for winning the contest. Oriental Weavers conceived the contest idea as a way to encourage its exclusive dealers of the line to promote this new rug concept to consumers. The handtufted rugs are offered in wool and wool/viscose options.
“She had the most spectacular presentation,” said Riley of Fried. “She’s been doing a great job with the new line.” Besides an interior display, the store also had one of the rugs draped over a large chair at the entrance to the store.
This was Oriental Weavers’ first competition, and the company received about 60 to 70 entries nationwide.
G. Fried has been in business on Long Island since 1889, when Fried’s great-great-grandfather founded the business. The current location is 40,000 square feet.
