DALLAS—Feizy Rugs has announced the winners of its first annual design contest.
Angela Da Rocha’s intricate contemporary design, Moinho Colorido, took top honors.
“My design reflects the melding of the cultures in which I grew up,” said Da Rocha. “My Sino-Portuguese background influenced the thought I put into designing this rug. The name Moinho Colorido means “colorful windmill” in Portuguese. The story behind the rug reminds me of the evolution in our history from when we depended on the windmill to produce fresh dairy products and, later, to provide electricity to the homes of many people.” As first prize winner, she will receive $500.
Diana Graham’s simple yet elegant floral took second prize, and she will receive $300. Cynthia Howard’s scrolling ironwork pattern has been chosen as the third prize winner, and she will receive $150.
