PETALUMA, Calif.—Designer Emma Gardner has unveiled three new rug designs for 2012: Stream, Flow and Daphne. Now available through emma gardener design’s network of showrooms and sales representatives, the designs include two organic, flowing shapes and one graphic floral pattern.
“I had a lot of fun with construction this year, doing one all-wool version of the flower design, Daphne (in the Blues colorway), which is crisp and bold, and one silk and wool colorway (Buttered Toast), which has shimmery silvers, taupes and golds in a wheat colored field,” said Gardner. “Most of the colors come from our Whisper palette but there is also much more intense sea blue in some of them than I’ve used in the past and I love the way they came out. In Flow (Ocean) we use a blend of two related blues for an added depth of color.”
Both Stream and Flow are available in three colorways and use curvy organic patterns of raised silk on a wool background. Daphne is a stylized study of a delphinium and is available in two colorways. All three are handknotted in Nepal with handcarded, handspun and pot-dyed Tibetan wool that is finished to a 5mm pile. The silk is pure Chinese silk and cut to 5.5 mm pile.
