CALHOUN, Ga.–Maverick designer Mike Farrell is expanding his line with Surya at Las Vegas Market with the addition of several more collections, including indoor/outdoor rugs, new handtufted designs and coordinating pillows. In addition, he will be on hand on Monday, Jan. 27 in Surya’s showroom to deliver the presentation, “Live Love Coffee: A Journey with Mike Farrell.”
Known for his quirky, out-of-the-box design sensibility, Farrell translates everyday items such as bicycles, lines, letters and numbers into interesting and eye-catching constructions. Farrell first debuted his line with Surya in 2011 with handtufted rugs.
For his presentation, which begins at 1 p.m. in Surya’s showroom, C-400, Farrell—a self-described nomad who has traveled to more than 30 countries and 500 cities—will provide tips for unlocking creativity and share his inspiration, unconventional designs and bold new rug and pillow collections for Surya. Coffee will be served.
“I want to reflect life as I see it—chaotic, individual, colorful—and to make things that spark conversation and laughter,” said Farrell. “I am fired up about my second collaboration with Surya and the chance to bring my inspirations to life in statement-making rugs and pillows that invite fun and reverie into urban living spaces. Like me, Surya is always evolving and reinventing itself to introduce cutting edge products that raise the bar for design—and that makes for a great synergy.”
Satya Tiwari, president, Surya, added, “Simplifying the design process for our customers through a diverse range of coordinating products is an essential part of Surya’s mission. Based upon his popular textiles, which have been interpreted into products ranging from upholstery to shower curtains, Mike’s latest collections for us exemplify the Surya experience by enabling customers to coordinate, both thematically and aesthetically, across the entire line as well as Mike Farrell brand.”
Surya will launch several collections, as well as additions to popular ranges, at Market this coming week. Among the introductions are Bagras, low-sheered, hand knotted rugs in traditional motifs; Houseman, a new take on hides; Shibori, handtufted rugs inspired by traditional Shibori tie dying arts; and solid-hued poufs in velvets and linen. There are also extensions to the Gemini handtufted rug collection and the Zahra accent furniture assortment.
Surya’s showroom celebration will kick off at 5 p.m.
