Mansell to Become Kohl’s Chairman; Montgomery to Retire

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis.–Kevin Mansell, president and chief executive officer of Kohls, has been named chairman, succeeding the retiring Larry Montgomery.
Mansell’s new post and Montgomery’s retirement are both effective on Sept. 1. A Kohl’s statement said Montgomery will stay on the board until Jan. 30, 2010, and will provide assistance with the transition following his retirement. Montgomery joined Kohl’s in 1988 and has held several executive positions throughout his career with the department-store retailer. He was appointed to the board in 1994, and was promoted to chief executive officer in 1999 and then named chairman in 2003.
Mansell joined Kohl’s in 1982 and held several positions in merchandising, planning, allocation and marketing. In 1999, he was named president, and became chief executive officer in 2008.
